Dr. Ghulam Abbas Anjum is a Professor of Transport Planning and the coordinator for Center of Transportation Studies and Research at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.  He has conducted research extensively on various aspects of transportation planning and authored numerous articles, a book chapter, and consultancy reports; and presented a number of research papers at international conferences.  As a consultant, he has been involved in a number of transport and socio-economic projects.  Some of his notable studies include: household interview survey (HIS) and data entry for the Comprehensive Study on Transportation System in Lahore; a socio-economic and housing survey of five selected villages in Kasur district under the Rehabilitation of flood damaged areas project; and a survey of rural settlements in Galiat Region and Kaghan Valley.  The survey comprised of transportation, water supply, tourism, education and women development.  He also served as Chief Transport Planner, on deputation basis, Transport Department; Government of the Punjab where he was the key person in implementing franchised based urban transport scheme in Punjab.  During his deputation period, he was designated as focal point to liaise with Women Development Department and represented the Transport Department in the meetings on women 'development at Various Forums especially on implementation of National Plan of Action (NPA).'  Dr. Abbas is a nationally recognized expert in public transport planning and management.  Currently, he has been providing consultancy services on part time basis to both the private and the public sector clients. Dr. Abbas holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.  His doctorate in Transport Planning is from the Heriot – Watt University, UK.
